Dulux A388-B Line (High Performance - Solventborne)
ALYPHATIC URETHANE GLOSS FINISH

Dulux Aliphatic Urethane Gloss Finish is a high performance, 2-component chemically cured gloss finish for use in areas where maximum gloss and colour retention are required.

USAGE
For use on properly prepared and primed steel, concrete or steel floors, masonry, drywall, plaster, metal, concrete block, galvanised, aluminium, poured concrete, and glazed brick.
Ideal for use on exterior or interior structural steel, piping, metal buildings, control cabinetry, conveyors, pumps, storage tanks, motors, machinery and transportation vehicles. Can also be used in the hard service areas of food processing plants, dairies, schools, restaurants, hospitals, correctional facilities, factories, stadiums, areas and amusement parks.

APPLICATION
MIXING RATIO
MIXING NOTES
6 part Base to 1 part Converter by volume.
Mix the base portion to obtain a smooth homogeneous condition. After mixing the base portion, add the converter slowly with continued agitation. The pot life of the mixed material is 8 hrs at 25°C. Higher temperature will reduce working life of the coating; lower temperature will increase it.

Add up to 1 part of T-9 Thinner to 5 parts of paint (20%).
Add up to 1 part of T-9 Thinner to 20 parts of paint (5%).
Small amount (5% or less) of T-17 Thinner will improve roller, brush applications.
SPRAY RECOMMENDATIONS

Satisfactory through most equipment.
A typical set up for airless spray application is a minimum working pressure on paint of 3000 psi with a spray tip size 0.015” - 0.019”.

APPLICATION NOTES

Be sure all spray equipment and fluid lines are clean and free of water or non-compatible solvents.
Do not apply over wet surface or under very humid conditions where condensation or fog could settle on the coating during the cure process.

SPREADING RATES
For maximum protection in corrosive areas, apply at 7m²/L or 75 - 135 micros wet. In mild to moderate exposures, apply at 11m²/L or 50 - 90 micros wet. Make allowance for any losses due to overspray or surface irregularities.

CURING TIMES
Recoat At 30°C
Hard Dry
Full Cure

Single coat at standard thicknes:
1 hour minimum.
4 - 6 hours
7 days.

CLEANING UP
Clean all equipment with T-10 Thinner immediately after use.
FILM THICKNESS

Wet: 90 - 135 microns.
Dry: 50 - 75 microns.

PRE - APPLICATION
SURFACE PREPARATION
All surfaces must be sound, dry, clean and free of oil, grease, dirt, mildew, form release agents, curing compounds, loose and flaking paint and other foreign substances, and be structurally sound. Round off welds and sharp edges and weld splatter.

Galvanised Steel and Aluminium

Clean and prime with CATHA-COAT 302 or BAR-RUST 231
Fill with BAR-RUST 231
Cure at least 30 days. Acid etch or abrasive black slick, glazed concrete or concrete with laitance> Prime with BAR-RUST 231, thinned 25%, with recommended thinner or use PRE PRIME 167 Penetrating Sealer.
Remove dirt and oils by solvent cleaning or with DEVPREP 88 Cleaner followed by a thorough water rinsing. Prime with BAR-RUST 231

PREVIOUSLY PAINTED SURFACES


Old coatings should be tested for lifting. If lifting occurs, remove them. Otherwise scuff sand glossy areas and aged epoxy coatings. Clean aged epoxy or urethane coatings with DEVPREP 88 Cleaner. Remove rust, cracked and peeling paint. Prime cleaned areas with PRE-PRIME 167 Penetrating Sealer.

In case of fire use foam, dry powder, AFFF, CO2 - Never use water.
In case of a spillage, contain and collect spillage using sand or earth and do not empty into water courses, drains or the environment
Dispose of any paint waste in accordance with the appropriate Environmental Quality Regulations
